A Bit of History on the Green Star Juicer
This innovative kitchen gadget is manufactured by Tribest and is the newest model of what was once called the Green Power juicer. Tribest was founded in 1988 in Los Angeles by Jae K. Choi. In 1994, they released their first juicer, which was the Green Power juicer extractor. In 2003, a newly amped up designed was released, known as the Green Star juicer.
In addition, the Solo Star Single was released and the StiftungWarentest, which is Germany's equivalent of America's Consumer Reports, named the Green Star as the best on the market.
Features and Performance
The first thing you will notice about the Green Star is that it is very easy to fit the pieces together. The power cord can be hidden in a concealed compartment in the back. There is a wide selection of attachments and accessories are included, such as those needed for making pastas, breadsticks, and baby foods.
The twin gears of the Green Power juicer are made from stainless steel, but they also contain bioceramic materials and magnets. The reasoning behind this that it helps you extract more nutrients out of fruits and vegetables and that the juice would have a longer shelf life. Additionally, since the twin gears operate at a really low speed (only 110 RPM), there is little heat, resulting in more enzymes in your juice.
The Greenstar comes with two screens (model S3000). One is used for carrots, wheatgrass, and leafy greens. The other is used for oranges, apples, and other pulpy fruits and vegetables.
There are also two plungers, one plastic and one made of wood. Also included are a cleaning brush and a collection jug for juice. Another great feature of the Green Power juicer is that the pulp outlet knob can be used to vary the amount of pulp in the juice.
There aren't many, but one of the most significant is that the pieces are not dishwasher safe. The cleaning brush does get to the smaller areas of the juicer to make cleaning a bit easier.
The Green Power juicer is also not as fast as some of the other models on the market are, but this is due to the low speed with which it operates. It's a trade off between speed and juice quality. Personally juice quality wins every time for me. The cost is another consideration, as these juicers can run between $450-$500.
A Final Thought
This is a high quality juicer that is built to last. It performs well and the attachments and accessories are nice extras. There is a five year warranty, which is quite a bit better than some other brands. If you are looking for a juice that will last and perform well, the Green Star juicer is a solid choice.
