What are Citrus Juicers?

To completely understand what differentiates a citrus juicer from a regular juicer, wheatgrass juicer or blender an explanation is appropriate.

Citrus juicers are identifiable by a ribbed dome shaped reamer where a half fruit is placed for juicing. Wheatgrass or vegetable/fruit juicers have no reamer. They have cutting, shredding or slicing blades to macerate the food item to release the juice.

The reamer of a citrus juicer forces the juice from the fruit with pressure; hence the term citrus press. Blenders merely pulverize everything placed in them rather than extracting juice from pulp. All citrus presses and juicers have a reamer whether they are electric or manually powered.

KitchenAid Citrus Juicers are not an independent machine but rather a juicer formed when a citrus juicer attachment is added to a KitchenAid Food Processer.

Attachments

There are a few citrus juicing attachments that cover most KitchenAid Food Processer models. Model KFPJC KitchenAid Citrus Juicing Attachment may be purchased to fit Food Processor Models KFP500, KFP 600, KFP 650, KFP 670 and KFP 690.

For around $30 this attachment will turn your KitchenAid Food Processor into the best citrus juicer you will ever own. This particular attachment is extremely quick juicing oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit with efficiency and ease. Model KFPJC has no lid or cover.

Model KFP6CP is a citrus juicing attachment that fits the same models of food processors as Model KFPJC. At an affordable $40 this attachment has a juicer receptacle (unlike Model KFPJC) and its own set of controls.

KitchenAid Citrus Juicer attachment Model JE fits on the KitchenAid mixer/food center. This is a very simple operating juicer. The attachment mounts into the drive port enabling the reamer to rotate while a half citrus fruit is pressed onto it by hand.

As the juice flows from the fruit it drops through a filter tray and out the spout into a waiting receptacle. The strainer tray traps seeds and pulp for clean freshly squeezed juice. For a mere $34.99 you can make your mixer into the best juicer avaiable.

Manual

The manual KG070CR is a very simple two handle kitchen tool that works on the leverage principle, similar to a nutcracker. It is completely dishwasher safe and ergonomic in design. To juice a citrus fruit with this juicer, open the handles wide enough to place the fruit in the holder. Squeeze the handles together to force the juice from the fruit.

There is no sieve or receptacle so this should be done over a receptacle of some sort. If you want the seeds removed it is recommended that you pour the juice through a sieve.

You can make your KitchenAid Food Processor into a citrus juicer by simply adding an attachment at very little cost. For the best fresh juice you have ever tasted, use one of the best juicers you will ever find; your own KitchenAid Citrus Juicer.
